Iero beach is located in the northeast, near the airport. It is a relatively deserted beach, not well known to visitors, because until recently there was no access to it.
Its name derives from a myth that in that area the god Dionysus was born and his temple ('iero') was found in a nearby cave.
The sand and small pebble beach lies in a small bay. It is not busy, nor organised.
Tip! It is ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. A small sea cave of Dionysus near the beach, is waiting to be explored! West of the beach lies the wreck of a cargo ship.
Access
Accessible only by car, off the main road to Faros, detouring to the airport.
