Advice to Bathers

Advice to Bathers by the Ministry of Marine and Aegean:

I watch, I learn, I care when lying on the beach and the sea ....

Be careful:

  • Do not move away from the shore by swimming, even when I do not know swimming.
  • Do not swim in the open, where passing boats or speedboats.
  • Do not forget many hours in the sun without adequate protection measures.
  • Do not swim if you have not spent 3.4 hours eating.
  • Do not swim outside the buoys located along the coast.

I Learn that:

  • Swimming in areas where there are signs warning that the sea is polluted, it can cause serious diseases in both my skin and in my body.
  • If I suffer "cramp" while I swim, relax the body part that is "caught" and slowly move towards the coast.
  • Swimming is dangerous when there are strong currents or windy, or big waves.
  • If you feel tired while swimming, I live on the surface in a horizontal position and keep calm swimming when rest.
  • You should not swim when you do not feel well or I'm tired.

I care:

  • Not to throw garbage into seas and coasts
  • I do not play dangerous games in the sea that can injure me or my friend.
  • Rapidly inform the lifeguard to see anything that might endanger the life of another
  • Checking that the bottom will not do dips rocks or other dangerous objects
  • I wear sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen to protect myself from the sun

AND SOME TIPS FOR PARENTS ...

  • I never leave my child unattended in or near water
  • Never think that "armbands", etc. inflatable coils substitute my duty to superintend my child
  • I teach my child that should never swim alone
  • Play with him in the shallows until you become familiar with the water
  • Never force my child to get into the water if afraid
  • If my child does not know a good swimmer, I never let him swim without a lifejacket, coil or armbands
