Seychelles on Sunday Times

The British ''Sunday Times'' newspaper prepare us for the summer by sharing the best beaches in Europe for 2017. In a recent article, they published the 50 best beaches for 2017, based on a survey of their readers.

They were asked:

What are the most glorious stretches of sand (or pebbles) you’ve ever set foot on?

The survey  participants named 11 Greek beaches and of course they could not miss Ikaria. Among the 11 is Seychelles beach.

The paper wrote in an article on Ikaria:

"When Ikaria’s savage south coast was dynamited for a tunnel, it opened access to a beach so stunning that local wags immediately dubbed it “Seychelles”. Transparent turquoise water laps its silver and gold pebbles, amid granite formations that were made for basking. Pack supplies and take the short boat hop from the nearby village of Manganitis, or park by the tunnel and scramble — wear trainers — 15 minutes down the rocky path."

All the Greek beaches presented there:

1.  Agni Gulf, Corfu

2. Voutoumi, Antipaxoi

3. Porto Katsik, Lefkada

4. Gidaki, Ithaca

5. Navagio, Zante

6. Voidokoilia, Messinia

7. Maratha, Skiathos

8. Paliorema, Milos

9. Ampeli, Folegandros

10. Seychelles, Ikaria

11. Sougia, Creta
